Enterprise AI often arrives with a model, a demo and an unanswered question: who knows how to put it to work safely inside the company? Anthropic is committing $100 million to train 10,000 engineers in that work through its new Claude Frontier Academy, with the goal of reaching that number by the end of 2027.
Training for deployment, not just demos
The academy is designed to prepare engineers to bring Claude into corporate environments. Its first cohorts include engineers from Accenture, Bain, Capgemini, Commonwealth Bank of Australia, Deloitte, McKinsey, Morgan Stanley and Novo Nordisk.
Anthropic’s training model borrows from medical education. Participants first attend a multi-day, in-person session with Anthropic engineers and licensed instructors. They work through a simulated Claude deployment, from choosing a use case to checking security and handing the system over for operation.
They then take a practical exam based on a different scenario. Those who pass earn the status of Claude Resident Engineer and move on to a 12-week residency.
A real project inside each organization
During the residency, each engineer leads a Claude implementation project at their own organization, with support from Anthropic engineers and input from other participants in the cohort. A final assessment determines who earns the Claude Frontier Deployed Engineer designation.
Anthropic expects the first engineers to receive that status in early 2027. Cohorts are based in San Francisco, New York and London. Participation is by organizational nomination through the company’s Anthropic account manager, rather than open enrollment.
That structure makes the training less like a general-purpose AI course and more like supervised work on a company’s own deployment. The distinction matters: selecting a use case is only the start. Security checks and the handoff into ongoing operations are part of the exercise too.
Building on an existing partner network
The academy joins Anthropic’s Claude Partner Network. The company says professionals from 46,000 firms have earned more than 175,000 Claude certifications through the network, while nearly 4,000 people have completed its intensive Basecamp program.
Anthropic also announced an expanded strategic collaboration with Barclays to deploy secure, enterprise-grade AI systems. Separately, it said it has formed a new research group and laboratory focused on life sciences, which has already identified a new enzyme system with properties resembling CRISPR.
The academy’s ambition is clear, even if the work is less glamorous than a product launch: teach people to fit AI into real organizations, where security reviews, internal processes and handoffs do not disappear just because a demo went well.
